Associate Software Engineer

About the role

Momentous is hiring an Associate Software Engineer to contribute to the production AI systems we design, build, and operate for our clients. Engagements span custom AI products, knowledge platforms, agentic systems, computer vision, and the infrastructure that runs them. You will pair with senior engineers from week one, ship code that goes to production under review, and develop fluency with the AI tooling that defines how we work.

Responsibilities

• Contribute well-scoped pieces of features to production engineering work, under senior review
• Ship features end-to-end, from PR through deploy, on supervised tasks
• Write tests, fix bugs, and help keep deployed systems healthy
• Build fluency with the stack: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Python, PostgreSQL, GCP, Claude Code
• Develop the practice of writing design notes before writing code

Minimum qualifications

• Strong programming fundamentals: data structures, control flow, debugging, ability to read code and debug it yourself when AI output is wrong
• Demonstrated shipping outside coursework: a meaningful internship, a side project with users, an open-source contribution, or equivalent
• Working use of a modern AI coding tool (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) on real tasks, with the ability to identify when its output is wrong
• Strong written communication
• Computer science degree, equivalent self-directed study, or a track record that shows comparable depth

Preferred qualifications

• Bilingual English / Spanish
• Open-source contributions or a side project with real users
• Direct experience using Claude Code on agentic, multi-step tasks
• A specific technical interest — frontend craft, distributed systems, machine learning, computer vision

Logistics

Compensation

• MXN 20,000–55,000 per month, calibrated to experience. Adjusted at parity for other LATAM markets.
